In the most recent 2012FloridaPrimary.com poll, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich got the big bump he needed from his victory in South Carlina and moved from his 19% to first place with 29%. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney picked up 2% of the undecided and came in second with 25%. Former Senator Rick Santorum ticked up a point finishing in third with 15%. Ron Paul, who intends to bypass the Florida Primary still polled at 7%.
With the “Undecided” still at 23%, the fact remains anyone can still win in the winner-take-all Florida Primary.
Poll Results:
Newt Gingrich 29%
Mitt Romney 25%
Undecided 23%
Rick Santorum 16%
Ron Paul 7%
*Poll taken 1-22-12. A phone survey of 300 registered Republicans who are likely to vote in the 2012 Florida primary.
I do not like early voting, absentees, Motor Voter or same day reg. voting. The people in a state with those factors often vote BEFORE all the facts are known about the process. If 40% of Fla. has voted, they have done so without knowing Newt won SC by a huge margin and also that Perry endorsed Newt as did Palin-at least for SC. If Newt is to win, he will have to overcome Mitt’s early voting lead and that will be tough. I doubt if he can do it unless almost all Pubs stop voting for Perry, Rick S and Ron Paul and go with Newt. Yikes.
According to James Novogrod of NBC News
“At least 185,435 absentee ballots have been returned in FL so far. 473,573 absentee ballots were requested.”
Hummm…So that means that 281,138 Florida absentee ballots have NOT been cast as of yet and that’s that’s over 1/2 who still need to vote…SWEET AS!
And strangely, many of those absentee ballots were mailed from Utah.
Looking at Newt Gingrich makes me want to throw up. All I see when his face appears is a con man who cheated on two wives and is asking us to accept his third – homewrecker mistress of six years as our First Lady. What is wrong with “conservatives” and what message do they think(if they are thinking at all) they are sending to our youth and married couples about fidelity and committment? Newt Gingrich is the LEAST conservative candidate we have and we can only hope that voters wake up before they are responsible for rejecting the most moral, decent and qualified candidate we have running – Mitt Romney. Gingrich has done nothing over the last 15 years to deserve to be President and he as thrown out of his office by his own party. He has supported global warming, the individual health mandate, lobbied( even though he deceptively did not register as a lobbyist – that is exactly what he did – sold advice) and took `1.6 million dollars form Fanny and Freddie – and he is nasty too.
THE TRUTH WILL GET NEWT ELECTED ~ WE don’t like liars!!
Keep in mind that the Utmost Corrupt Nancy Pelosi was originally involved in this horrible character assassination! Newt was making good changes in DC and the corrupt politicians couldn’t stand it. She’s still trying to discredit Newt because Obama does NOT want to run against Newt. He terrifies Them! It’s more than obvious their choice to run against is Mitt Romney. All the news networks are slobbering all over themselves over Romney. The Lefts favorite. Why do you think that is? Because they know even Obama can beat him!! Mitt Romney is Obama Jr. RomneyCare IS ObamaCare!
Romney and his dishonest money can buy plenty more deceptive advertising, and it’s obvious he will stoop to the lowest levels to win. We already have a lying slime bag in the White House. Do you really want another one? I don’t.
Mitt has now told this blatant lie himself on National TV and can no longer blame it on his PAC. He knows he’s lying and everyone with the facts knows he’s lying. He just dug himself a hole he’ll never crawl out of.
~In 1999, after a 3 ½ year investigation, the Internal Revenue Service (under President Bill Clinton) concluded that Gingrich did not violate any tax laws, leading renowned CNN Investigative Reporter Brooks Jackson to remark on air “it turns out [Gingrich] was right and those who accused him of tax fraud were wrong.”
Eighty four politically motivated ethics charges were filed against Newt when he was Speaker of the House regarding the use of tax exempt funds for a college course he taught titled “Renewing American Civilization.” Eighty-three of the eighty-four charges were found to be without merit and dropped. The remaining charge had to do with contradictory documents prepared by Newt’s lawyer supplied during the course of the investigation. Newt took responsibility for the error and agreed to reimburse the committee the cost of the investigation into that discrepancy. In 1999, after a 3 ½ year investigation, the Internal Revenue Service (under President Bill Clinton, nonetheless) concluded that Gingrich did not violate any tax laws, leading renowned CNN Investigative Reporter Brooks Jackson to remark on air “it turns out [Gingrich] was right and those who accused him of tax fraud were wrong.”
After leaving public office, Newt Gingrich founded a number of very successful small businesses. One of these small businesses, a consulting firm called The Gingrich Group, offered strategic advice on a wide variety of topics to a very wide range of clients. One of these clients was Freddie Mac. At no time did Gingrich lobby for Freddie Mac, or for any client, and neither did anyone in Gingrich’s firm. This prohibition against lobbying was made clear to all Gingrich Group clients. Nor did Gingrich ever advocate against pending legislation affecting Freddie Mac, as some articles have incorrectly alleged. In fact, recent reporting from Bloomberg News on the Gingrich Group’s consulting services for Freddie Mac confirms that Gingrich and his firm were not paid to lobby and that Gingrich never acted as an advocate to stop any legislation or regulation affecting Freddie Mac.
Furthermore, as the New York Times documents, Newt urged House Republicans to vote against the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
It is because of people like you we are rapidly heading toward a socialist nation. Are you so blind to see that we all have our weaknesses and strengths ? We all err…Some of our greatest presidents had problems with mistresses which included Thomas Jefferson…George Washington…John F Kennedy…Bill Clinton…..I am sure that your quickie went unnoticed by the media….If women would not flaunt their asses then maybe great men would not have fallen prey to the temptation……As far as business dealings go….the accusations you make in the light you make them in hardly outweigh the good that has been done by Newt…
Newt has admitted mistakes, had to deal wacko wives (Ike the one who went on TV), dealt with untrue rumors and has made his eave with his aker and asked us for forgiveness. Apparently, you haven’t made mistakes or been intolerant r judgemental of others.
and apparently you like givng your tax dollars to lobbyists who collect bailout money.
No thanks.
Brenda, what care you talking about? Look at Obama’s parents: a self- hating white and promiscuous 17- year old female, has sex with a Kenyan, just because he is black, and they give birth to an incompetent weakling by the name of Barrack Hussein. Newt is the most intellIgent politician in America today. The establishment, both GOP and DEM, hate him because they can see what’s coming: their destruction….for the benefit of America!
What good news you have posted here, I hope that NEWT has a slam dunk in Florida
time we get a president that has both brains and balls! go newt go!
we need someone as prez that finally will take care of this country… and our friends and only our friends in the world!
voting for Newt!
voting for Newt in this house!
Mathematics proves Newt or Rick cant win, They cannot get the delegates needed for the nomination considering Willard Mittens Romney and Ron Paul are the only 2 on every ballot and both have the campaigns to go untill the convention, a vote… for Newt or Rick is a waste of a vote. To secure the GOP nomination, a candidate needs at least 1,145 of the 2,288 delegates at stake. Gingrich and Santorum are not on the ballots in states that will provide a total of 564 delegates Missouri, Illinois, Dist of Columbia, Ohio and Virginia . That means that one or the other needs 66.42% of the remaining 1,724 delegates to reach 1,145. That is an almost insurmountable obstacle to the nomination without a deal. (Ron Paul delegates won’t vote for them.) Even under perfect conditions, their road to the nomination would be difficult. Their problems are compounded by their lack of campaign funds and grassroots support. So it comes down to either Obama, White Obama, or Ron Paul
Early voting started 10 days before Fl election date 1/31. So that was 1/21. That is the day SC voted.
I agree I do not like the alternate voting methods unless someone is out of the country that day or physically unable to get to the polls.
Are you factoring in that in some states the delegates can vote as they choose?
Not true – I have confirmed that they are on the ballot in Illinois and Ohio. Vote for the best conservative left, Rick Santorum. Newt and Mitt are progressives and will buddy up with the progressives and liberals at every turn regardless of their “ideals” or “beliefs”
I rather do early vote b/c many times on primary day, the line is way too long. As for mail in(Absentees) I don’t trust mailing anything in.
I trust Newt, as for his personal life, it is none of our business. Kennedy & Clinton cheated on their wives & that was OK. But Newt is a different story. Many ppl cheat on their spouses, partners. That don’t bother me. He help balanced the budget during both Reagan & Clinton & help created over 11 million jobs. Many senior citizen were able to get more money on their Soc Sec & Food Stamps. Unlikely today, you can’t get anything w/ who we have there. I do NOT trust both Paul & Mitt. Beside many ppl I talk to don’t care about his past, he admitted he made some mistakes & is willing to make up for it. That what Contract w/ America is all about. I have my Faith & trust in Newt!! NEWT 2012!!
What Mike S. said re: delegate counts, is factually false. Only the VA ballot has Romney and Paul alone on it.
Actually there are quite a few states in which only Romney and Paul’s names are on the ballot. I beg everyone reading this to PLEASE youtube Ron Paul predictions. Please, for the sake of the country, for freedom, liberty, honesty, peace, prosperity, ethics, logic, democracy and the constitution!
You Ron Paul followers have got to wake up – this guy WILL NOT be our next president. Newt may have his flaws, especially in his personal life, but whom among us doesn’t? Our president has to be perfect? I prefer a guy with a vision for a strong USA who has all the right ideas – read his top 10 priorities and tell me you don’t agree with all of them: http://www.newt.org/contract/legislative-proposals
Vote for Paul is a waste. A vote for Romney is a vote for another George W Bush – a liberal Republican (we don’t want that, do we?). And he is ONLY not on the VA ballot – he will be on the rest, so don’t but into that Floridians – lets vote for Newt!
The only candidate that has a real chance of defeating Obama is Ron Paul because he has a message that is resonant and gets independent voter support instead of the same ole status quo of more war for other countries and less for us Americans.
Soon we’ll find ourselves in Iran not because they are a threat to the USA, but just as with Iraq because US politicians are owned by wealthy Israel supporters who see them as a threat to Israel. We need a USA first President.
I don’t see how Newt is electable and Ron Paul isn’t. That makes absolutely no sense. Maybe you should turn off Fox News.
I will vote for someone who FOLLOWS the constitution…not someone who will become President just to continue on the path of corruption.
From what I have been hearing from friends in Florida alot have voted for different candidates including Perry by absentee. So I guess we might just have a Brokered Convention……
Michael Reagan: “Newt became a leading ally of my father, Ronald Reagan. He helped Congress push through massive tax cuts. He worked to secure a military buildup that helped defeat the Soviet Union. Under his leadership Congress also limited the welfare state. . . As a leader in the Reagan Revolution, Gingrich began to confront both Democrats and Republicans in Congress for their cozy insider deals. . . Gingrich led the most reform-minded Congress in America. . . He has helped keep my father’s legacy alive.”
Missouri primary does not award delegates so being on the ballot is meaningless. Delegates are awarded at the caucus. Newt is on the Ohio ballot. He is also on the Illinois ballot.
I just voted for Newt in the SC primary and am so glad he won. People say vicious things about him that he cheats on his wives and isn’t conservative. Yes he cheated but he has been very open about it and has expressed repentance for it. What a difference from Bill Clinton or John Edwards who lied about it until they were cornered in a legal argument. And to say Newt isn’t conservative is a joke. He did many things as Speaker which validate his conservatism. Don’t forget DOMA, welfare reform, tax cuts and two attempts at a partial birth abortion ban were passed during his Speakership.
Finally, the electability argument. Sure his unfavorables are high right now but they weren’t before Romney, Paul and their ilk unleashed vicious attack ads in Iowa. I firmly believe Newt can reverse his unfavorables and beat Obama in the general election.
He is corrupt. Haven’t you done any research on him? He’s a big government lobbyist that would rob you given the chance. He believes that the USA is able to go fight another war when we are $16 trillion in debt. That is just fuckin stupid and anyone thinking that we can obviously does not realize that the result would be the collapse of our great country from the inside. He supported an individual healthcare mandate, was in support of TARP and other bailouts, and opposed the right to work act. He’s far from a conservative. There are five republican voters in my household and we are all supporting Ron Paul. Enough of the lies by fake politicians looking to fatten their wallets. It’s time for a president that actually cares about the people and this great country.
All the folks that think Newt can win in a general election are either insane or delusional. He will lose to Obama worse than Mondale lost to Reagan. Book it. You guys simply do not understand the electorate at large. Sorry. Enjoy four more years of Obama!
Newt is the only one who can beat Obama…
As a republican… I will not vote for Newt in the general election… and… I know several imediate people who wont either… Newt is as slimy as they come… Look it up… His own party tried to kick him out for ethics violations… The house voted 395-28 in favor of reprimanding him… and he was fined $300,000…
I left the Republican Party when 10 GOP senators voted to acquit Slick in 1998. I cannot vote in Florida’s Republican primary election, and I wouldn’t vote for Newt Gingrich if I could because I don’t trust him to no longer be a philanderer. But I am thoroughly convinced that Willard Romney candidacy must be stopped.
Anyone who claims that Willard Romney’s business deals don’t cost American jobs needs to be made aware of some of the companies that Willard’s Bain Capital has invested in: Burlington Coat Factory; Toys “R” Us; KB Toys just to name a few. These companies sell manufactured products- products that are made in places like India- not America; Communist China- not America; Mexico- not America, and Thailand- not America. Every one of Willard’s companies that sells products that are made overseas- and not made in America- means jobs that Willard Romney has taken away from Americans.
Willard says he wants to be a CEO type president. Well, in America today a CEO’s job is to make as much money as possible as fast as possible- which means wasting natural resources in the name of economic efficiency and sending jobs to the country that has the lowest wages.
I believe Newt Gingrich is the only one who can debate Obama face to face. Newt has the passion and heart to get this country back on its feet again. I’m so tired of Fox News who is suppose to be bias telling us voters even after Newt won SC in a landslide what Romney should do to win in Florida. I live in Florida and I’m voting for Newt.
We’re being herded off a cliff with Newt Gingrich. I suggest we stop. Now. In case anyone out there wants to really take in the severity of Newt’s situation vis-a-vis electability, here it is: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.html. Not only does he trail Obama by 11 points, not only does he not hold Obama under 50%, he HASN’T EVEN BROKEN 40% HIMSELF!
C’mon, folks. We need sanity to prevail here or we’re going to have four more years of Obama and thirty more years of an Obama Supreme Court. There is NO WAY Gingrich beats Obama. No way at all.
Amen, brother! It’s so amazing that so many within in the GOP are so tone deaf when it comes to the electorate at large. Plus, there will only probably be about 3 Presidential debates total. No matter how well Newt does, he can’t overcome his negatives. I do believe that this could be good in the long run, though. If Newt wins the nomination, he will lose so badly that maybe it will force Republicans to see the truth and get their house in order.
Congratulations on a hard fought victory in South Carolina.
Without Florida, the Billion Dollar Obama Machine will steamroll to victory this November and destroy what is left of this replublic. WE CAN NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!
The Florida Debate is the most important of the entire primary season, and Florida is the most important state in the most important election in this nation’s history.
Mr. Gingrich is, hands down, the most intelligent Republican candidate, and – unlike Mr. Romney – Mr. Gingrich is a true conservative and the only one with the ability to redirect the course of the nation and keep us from railroading off the cliff Obama is so determined to drive us.
Like any human being who’s been alive for 6 decades, Mr. Gingrich has baggage, possibly more than any of his fellow candidates. His opponents are going to throw every possible issue at him to trip him up. Rather than let Obama’s Billion Dollar Machine destroy Mr. Gingrich point by point, I URGE MR. GINGRICH TO NIP THIS IN THE BUD NOW.
Rather than give his detractors the upper hand and placing him on the defensive over a myriad of issues, Mr. Gingrich must diffuse them up front and say simply “I have evolved, and here’s why:…….” Rather than defend the indefensible, Mr. Gingrich must say simply “I was wrong and here’s why:………….”
1) Be proactive about being in Nancy Pelosi’s camp regarding Climate Change. “At the time, I believe one way regarding climate change based upon the available evidence. Additional evidence has caused me to rethink that position.” Simple as that.
2) Be proactive about the Debt Ceiling debate. “Who knew that 60 years of policy could get us to this point. But I can see the forest for the trees and recognize what we’re facing, and we must do an about face to bring us back from the brink.” Anyone who can’t see that is blinded by their own agenda.
3) Be proactive about Freddie and Fannie. “Who could know it was so corrupt?” Anyone who doesn’t recognize corruption when they see it is blinded by their own agenda.
4) Our country’s evolved. Our party has evolved. Our voters have evolved. In the information age, anyone who’s objective is going to have changes of heart, changes of mind. That what makes Mr. Gingrich an authentic conservative. When debating Obama, Mr. Gingrich can say “I have evolved in this information age Mr. President, but you are the same radical you were in college.”
If Mr. Gingrich comes clean about these so called skeletons by admitting he’s evolved, the entire campaign to discredit him is diffused. I urge you Mr. Gingrich, you have my vote as a fellow Georgia, but to win the undecided voters in Florida, you must be proactive about these past issues rather than let them bring the fight to you. The attack ads in Obama’s arsenal are already planned. Diffuse them yourself, and you’ll take Florida!
I don”t understand all the hipe about Newt and Mitt. Listen close to Ron Paul when he is given the opportunity to debate. He makes alot of sense and he has a lot of experience. He is a true conservative and can win the undecided, republican and those registered without party affiliation. Has anyone really been able to attack him?
Good point Cliff.
Sadly, I voted for Obama in 2008 because I believed in change…but as I look at all the other candidates including Romney, Newt, and Santorum…all I see is a continuation of everything that is wrong with this country. If you educate yourself outside of mainstream media and really dive into what these candidates have done, you will see that the ONLY real true American Presidential candidate is Ron Paul.
Newt collected OUR tax dollars during the housing collapse…
Santorum is trigger happy and wants to go to war with Iran ASAP…
Romney is practically Obama…
Dr. Ron Paul is a strict constitutionalist who understands the real economy, the real issues, and therefore is the real deal.
Please Florida…open your eyes.
